Lives and works in Lethbridge, AB, CanadaWomen) is a project in which the artist set out to represent, in underwear, every possible object of desire that the she could imagine. Baker is an interdisciplinary and performance artist whose work draws from queer theory, gender culture, fat activism and art theory. She considers context to be her primary medium, and works with diverse materials and techniques from the low-craft to digital fabrication and performance, emphasizing the theoretical, conceptual and ephemeral aspects of her work.

Cindy Baker completed her MFA at the University of Lethbridge, Canada in 2014. All Things To All Men (and Women) will be featured in the upcoming book Queer Threads, co-edited by John Chaich and Todd Oldham, to be published by AMMO Books in Fall 2016.

Dana Dal Bo’s installation self-less is comprised of hundreds of unique selfies taken from various locations on the internet (twitter feeds, revenge-porn sites, Google image, etc.). The images have been blurred and obscured through a process of digital painting, cloning and erasing, and installed using McDonalds vanilla milkshake as adhesive highlighting the ubiquity of the ‘bathroom nude selfie.’ As an immersive installation, self-less collapses spaces between the public and the private and draws attention to self-surveilled and filtered constructions of identity.

Dana Dal Bo’s work moves in and between photo, video, textiles, performance, and the net. She draws inspiration from reality TV, surveillance practices, the history of medicine and psychology, infomercials and pop culture, and porn. Themes of contemporary anxiety, voyeurism, exhibitionism, narcissism and feminism dominate her work. Dal Bo is currently completing her MFA in Fibres and Material Practices at Concordia University.

Amir H. Fallah’s artistic oeuvre encompasses painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation, combined with a visual vocabulary that includes collage and complex patterning. His practice aims to present an alternative perspective to entrenched art historical portrait traditions and the dynamics of modern day art collection and art making. Intertwined with those concerns are his reflections upon identity and representation.

In this most recent body of work, Fallah deconstructs, remixes and collages elements of earlier works to create compositions that are part formal abstraction and part representation.

Amir H. Fallah received his BFA in Fine Art & Painting at the Maryland Institute College Of Art and his MFA in Painting at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has exhibited extensively in solo shows and group exhibitions across the United States and in the Middle East. In 2009, Fallah was chosen to participate in the 9th Sharjah Biennial.

Genevieve Gaignard’s work exists in a space of in-between. Gaignard, who is mixed-race, uses a range of character performance, self-portraiture and sculpture to explore blackness, whiteness, femininity, class and intersections therein. Gaignard interrogates notions of “passing” and positions her own female body as the chief site of exploration challenging viewers to navigate the powers and anxieties of intersectional identity.

Influenced by the soulful sounds of Billy Stewart, the kitschy aesthetic of John Waters and the provocative artifice of drag culture, Gaignard uses low-brow pop sensibilities to craft dynamic visual narratives. From the identity performance ritualized in ‘‘selfie” culture to the gender performance of hyper-femme footwear, Gaignard blends humor, persona and popular culture to reveal the ways in which the meeting and mixing of contrasting realities can feel much like displacement.

Genevieve Gaignard received her BA in Photography at Massachusetts College of Art and Design and her MFA in Photography at Yale University. She has exhibited throughout the United States, including shows at The Cabin LA in Los Angeles and the FLAG Art Foundation in New York. Her work was most recently presented at SPRING/BREAK Art Show, presented by Shulamit Nazarian and curated by Renée Fox.

Through drawing, ceramics and installation practices, Zachari Logan explores the intersections between masculinity, identity, memory and place. Previous work related to Logan’s current practice involved the investigation of his body as singular site of exploration. In recent work, his body remains a catalyst, but no longer the sole focus. Employing a strategy of visual quotation, mined from place and experience, Logan re-wilds his body as a queer embodiment of nature. This narrative shift employs both empirical explorations of landscape and overlapping art-historic motifs. Engaging both epic-scale and stylistically-historic techniques, Logan’s meticulous drawings evolve a visual language which speaks to the metaphoric as well as the metaphysical.

Zachari Logan’s received his MFA from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada in 2008. His work has been exhibited widely throughout North America and Europe and he has attended numerous residencies, including the International Studio and Curatorial Program in Brooklyn, NY and Wave Hill Botanical Gardens in the Bronx, NY. Logan was recently long-listed for the 2016 Sobey Art Award.

Travis McEwen is an artist who works primarily in the medium of painting to explore themes of otherness, queerness, and gender. Historically, his practice has been a portrait-focused investigation into the emotional and psychological experiences of being othered, and has extended into how queer community and alternate spaces are constructed. McEwen uses a fierce and codefied colour palette to explore ideas of gender, marginalization, identity, isolation and markers of trauma. His current body of work, The Arch: Plans For A Heterotopic Space Opera, takes inspiration from science fiction and continues his exploration of ‘otherness’ through a series of portraits and landscapes.

Travis McEwen received his MFA from Concordia University, Montréal, Canada in 2014, and has shown work throughout Canada, including Latitude 53 (Edmonton), Galerie La Centrale Powerhouse (Montréal), and Owens Art Gallery (Sackville). Most recently he was included in Future Station: 2015 Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. Currently he is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Minnesota, Department of Art, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Tammy Salzl is a visual storyteller who tells contemporary tales through multiple media, including painting, sculpture, drawing and large-scale mixed-media installation. Her watercolour portraits capture the complex psychological narratives of the sitters. Calling them ‘beautiful parasites’, Salzl depicts fellow artists, friends and family, striving to draw the viewer in with an affective experience that slowly evolves to alter the viewers perception. Salzl paints figurative studies of what it means to be human in today’s world. She paints the stories that separate and isolate us as the other, and the commonalities we all share through an obsessive and often disturbing focus on posture and colour and flesh.

Tammy Salzl received her MFA in Painting and Drawing at Concordia University, Montréal, Canada in 2014. She has had solo exhibition across Canada and in Berlin, as well as curated group exhibitions in Canada, the US and Mexico City. Salzl’s large-scale mixed-media installation The Cleansing, debuted at Circa POPOP in Montréal in 2015, and was invited as a Featured Project for Art Toronto 2015.

Allison Schulnik choreographs her subjects in compositions that embody a spirit of the macabre, a Shakespearian comedy/tragedy of love, death and farce. The subjects often stare back at the audience and study them as they are in turn studied, aware of their ancestors from the Grand Theme works of the past, the genre paintings that inform them. Although a haunting sense of foreboding, discomfort and unease is palpable, a sense of understanding, compassion and hopefulness for her cast of characters is still evident in the heavy impasto paintings. Her sculptural use of oil paint references her clay-animation background, as a motion-like sensibility affords her paintings unparalleled depth and energy.

Allison Schulnik earned her BFA in Experimental Animation from the California Institute of the Arts, Valencia, and has had solo exhibitions at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art (CT), Laguna Art Museum (CA), Oklahoma City Museum of Art (OK), Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art (KS), ZieherSmith Gallery (NY), Rokeby Gallery (London), Unosunove Arte Contemporanea (Rome), and Division Gallery (Montreal). In addition to her inclusion in prestigious film festivals around the world, her films have garnered multiple awards, including Best Experimental Animation at Ottawa International Animation Festival in 2014, and her work is in numerous public collections.
